West Kowloon, Hong Kong

HK West Kowloon is an OMSI map addon that players can drive around the major areas of West Kowloon, where it is one of the metropolitan areas of Hong Kong including but not limited to the districts of Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei, Mongkok, Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan, Lai Chi Kok, etc. I plan to develop the map in ten different phases, in which phase 3 has been completed and released as version 2.10, that players can drive KMB routes 2, 6, 6C, 6F and 212. The next stage, phase 4, that builds roads and buildings in North Kowloon City and East Tsim Sha Tsui, is currently in progress. So that players can drive KMB routes 5A, 8A and 8P as well. The map below shows the bus routes available to drive for different phases.

The map was initially created almost five years ago (in mid-2012), the objects (like the road intersections and buildings) on the map are built using Blender, most of the textures are captured from Google Street View (now are mostly from Tencent QQ map's street view for more updated and clear textures). I was still new at 3D modelling at that time, so the quality of the buildings, especially their textures, made during that period were not very good, and the map was also not very detailed such as no barriers and no traffic signs. Therefore, I decide to improve the map by rebuilding the early-built buildings, resetting the traffic signals, and adding more detail objects including the barriers, light poles, traffic/road signs and so on. While I am working on the improvments, I will still work on expanding the map according to the plan mentioned above.

In August 2018, a newer version was released to allow players to drive routes 5A, 8A and 8P in addition to the current playable routes.

Below are some pictures of the map captured, I will update and add pictures at anytime without notice, so please stay tuned on this project.
